Hello!

This is our little diary of a our 99 days travelling South East Asia.

Day 67: Sunset at Angkor Wat

Day 67: Sunset at Angkor Wat

Claire: Sunrise at Angkor Wat is meant to be magical site! But neither Gav or I are particularly morning people... especially when it means waking up at 4:30am. So we decided to sack off the sunrise in exchange for sunset. I'd been researching the best places but it seemed the most popular were small spots and often over-crowded with tourists. With that in mind, we eventually came to the conclusion we'd just visit the park at golden hour and admire the warm soft glow in the sky instead.

We hired bicycles and rode the 7km to Angkor Wat and it was stunning! The temple faces West so we didn't get the sunset backdrop but everything had a red hue. It was actually really nice to return to the temple early evening too as it was so quiet compared to yesterday so we could walk round and take a lot more in this time.

I can't get over how tame the monkeys are here too. They just casually lounge around being mischievous. This little fella had just stole some mango...

Tonight we're heading to Marum, the sister restaurant to Friends we visited in Phnom Penh. A great organisation training vulnerable young people for a career in the hospitality industry
