Day 9: Life of Pai
Claire: Not sure how much sleep I actually got last night. We spotted 2 cockroaches in the room (we are basically in a shed and our bathroom doesn’t even have floor to ceiling walls) so I slept under the covers, in clothes, with just a fan blowing hot air around. Breakfast solved everything. Today was my first day in 9 days I hadn’t had watermelon for breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, I love watermelon, but pancakes with banana & chocolate was a much welcomed change.
We decided to have a lazy day after a stroll down the beautiful riverbank and deciding to extend our stay by a further 2 nights (but in new accommodation!). Gav needed to do some work and I wanted to catch up on emails / edit photos so we got some Chang beers and set up laptops on the cabin terrace in the sunshine. We don’t mind doing work if work days are like this.
Tonight we’ll sample the street food. It all looks delicious here, a lot different from the delights of Bangkok!!!!
Gav's takeaway
- After hot sleep, I had the most garlic I've ever eaten at breakfast. Not complaining like.
- Followed by some work lying in a hammock.
- Then wandered the town grabbing coffee and cake which we couldn't pay for as we'd ran out of cash!
- But we like Pai so booked 2 more nights.
